Jaewon Saw presents at the 3rd SEG/EAGE Geophysical Aspects of Smart Cities Workshop in Seoul, South Korea

Jaewon Saw presented at the Geophysical Aspects of Smart Cities workshop, held by the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) and European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) in Seoul, South Korea on December 4th, 2024, where she shared research on “Revolutionizing Urban Infrastructure Monitoring with Embedded Distributed Acoustic Sensing: Real-Time Traffic Visualization and Pipeline Integrity Assessment.”

This work (in collaboration with Maksymilian Jasiak and Kenichi Soga) presented a heatmap visualization method for monitoring traffic events on DAS deployed on linear infrastructure (experimental roadway and pipeline buried under a road), demonstrated the potential for multi-purpose DAS application (traffic and water pipeline monitoring), and assessed the performance of fiber optic cables embedded directly into the infrastructure being monitored in the context of urban monitoring.
