As part of Ignited‘s “Sustainable Solutions: Water & Green Jobs Experience” Week at the end of June 2025, 30 East Bay teachers visited the CSI lab, where they explored advancements in seismic resilience, leak detection and predictive analytics – tools that are shaping the future of water management. Ignited is a non-profit organization that empowers educators to transform their students’ career trajectories by creating meaningful connections between educators and professionals in leading industries. The East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) hosted the teachers during the week-long program that included a pontoon tour of EBMUD’s San Pablo Reservoir, a visit to the Walnut Creek Water Treatment Plant, and time at the District’s Pipeline Training Academy. These experiences and the visit to CSI provided a behind-the-scenes look at how data-driven solutions and cutting-edge technology are being leveraged to ensure a safe, sustainable and resilient water system.
Throughout the week, educators gained real-world insights to take back to their classrooms. The goal is to spark curiosity and open doors to students for future careers in engineering, water management, and sustainability.
