Dayu attended the ASCE Geo-Risk conference at Arlington, VA, on July 23-26, 2023. He delivered a presentation titled “Unsupervised Soil Clustering and Anomaly Detection Based on EPB TBM Data”.
In this work, he used a combination of Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Local Outlier Factor (LOF) to project TBM operation data points into an embedding space and measure the degree of anomaly. This work is expected to provide a systematic method to leverage information from massive TBM data for detecting geologic anomalies in real time during tunneling.
