    Dayu Apoji is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of California Berkeley and the Center for Smart Infrastructure Berkeley. He is working on industry-funded research projects for implementing artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning on (i) shield tunneling, (ii) underground infrastructure systems, and (iii) sensing and monitoring data. The goal is to advance the current practices on constructions and infrastructures by leveraging sensing data and AI systems.

    Dayu is also a certified geotechnical engineer (Indonesia). Prior to joining UC Berkeley, he worked for AECOM in Singapore, RHDHV in Jakarta, and Soil Mechanics Lab ITB in Bandung. He has more than 8 years of work experience in the industry and has been involved in various building and infrastructure projects across Southeast Asia region, such as Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Timor Leste.

    Dayu holds a Ph.D. in Civil & Environmental Engineering (CEE) with a designated emphasis in Computational and Data Science Engineering (CDSE) from the University of California at Berkeley. He obtained his B.Eng and M.Eng in Civil Engineering (with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering) from ITB, Indonesia, and also pursued his postgraduate diploma (DIC) and M.Sc in Earthquake Engineering from Imperial College London, UK.
