Andrew is a Ph.D. student in the Matt DeJong Research Group within the Structural
Engineering, Mechanics, and Materials (SEMM) program in Civil and Environmental
Engineering at U.C. Berkeley, funded by the National Science Foundation Graduate
Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP). His research focuses on the application of
distributed fiber optic sensors to problems in structural engineering and infrastructure
monitoring for age-related and seismically induced structural damage. Before joining the
SEMM Ph.D. program at U.C. Berkeley, Andrew obtained his M.S. in Structural
Engineering from Stanford University in 2024 and his B.S. in Civil Engineering from U.C.
Berkeley in 2021. Originally from the Bay Area, Andrew began his undergraduate
journey at College of Marin, where he met his wife, before transferring to U.C. Berkeley
where he remains an active advocate for the transfer student community. In his free
time, he enjoys hiking, learning French and Thai, and running a small electronics
business with his cousin.
