Jaewon Saw and Maksymilian Jasiak present invited talk at the 2025 UTC Telecom & Technology Conference in Long Beach

Jaewon Saw and Maksymilian Jasiak presented as invited speakers in a joint talk at the UTC Telecom & Technology Conference held June 16-19, 2025 in Long Beach, California. The conference brought together leaders from utilities, technology companies, and research organizations to discuss innovations in communications, cybersecurity, and infrastructure monitoring.

The talk, “Innovations in Monitoring Civil Infrastructure Systems using Distributed Fiber Optic Sensing (DFOS),” highlighted how DFOS can enable continuous, real-time monitoring of critical infrastructure systems. This approach is especially valuable for assets that are difficult to access or extend over long distances, such as underground pipelines and road networks.
The presentation also shared the research methods pursued at CSI, which combine lab experiments, field deployments, numerical modeling, and machine learning to advance infrastructure monitoring and management. By working together with municipal and utility partners, a key goal is to build practical, data-driven monitoring frameworks that can improve safety, optimize maintenance strategies, and extend the service life of vital infrastructure systems.
